There was wild jubilation in Ede, Ilesa and some parts of Osogbo in Osun State, as the election petition tribunal siting in Abuja over the petition arising from the conduct of September 2018 governorship poll in Osun declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke the winner of the election.
In Ede, the country home of the Adelekes, commercial motorcyclists, popularly as Okada riders and many natives of the town trooped to the streets and stormed the residence of the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke to jubilate over the victory of Senator Ademola Adeleke at the tribunal.
Findings by Tribune Online also indicated that there were jubilation in some parts of Ile-Ife as many supporters of the PDP expressed joy excitement over the judgment.
Commenting on the judgment, the Osun State chairman of the PDP, Hon Soji Adagunodo, described the victory at the tribunal as the dawn of great things in the state.
He said “I thank God and I want to say it emphatically that the victory is from God. The project is God’s project and God has really affirmed himself as the Almighty. I thank God for what he has done today and I thank God for the people of Osun.
I also thank the people of Osun for voting massively for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and our incoming governor, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke. I want to urge our members and supporters that we should rejoice peacefully . We should thank God because it is God’s doing that a new era is beginning in Osun today. Today’s victory would signpost the beginning of new things that would start in Osun,” Adagunodo said.
Similarly, the newly elected senator for Osun East Senatorial District, Chief Francis Fadahunsi, averred that “we are very happy over the judgment. We have been expecting it. It is victory for democracy and also a victory for Osun people. We are coming home to celebrate.”
