Emmanuel pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of trespass and stealing.
A Magistrates’ Court in Jos has sentenced a 19-year-old man, Samuel Emmanuel, to 18 months’ imprisonment for housebreaking and theft.
The Magistrate, Mrs Irene Pati, convicted him after the prosecutor, Insp Daniel Damulak, presented the facts of the case.
The court sentenced Emmanuel to six months’ imprisonment for trespass and 12 months’ imprisonment for theft, with both sentences to run consecutively.

The magistrate, however, gave him the option of a N20,000 fine for trespass and a N30,000 fine for theft.
According to the prosecutor, the complainant, Mr Victor Daniel, reported the incident on Nov. 3 at the Anglo-Jos Police Station.
Damulak told the court that Emmanuel broke into the complainant’s house through the ceiling and stole a television set, a gas cylinder, a wristwatch, perfume and shoes.
He added that the convict was arrested while trying to board a tricycle with the stolen items.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened provisions of the Plateau Penal Code Law.
