Iyorcha Ayu led national reconciliation committee resolves PDP crisis in Plateau

THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Reconciliation Committee led by former Senate President, Dr Iyorcha Ayu has resolved the internal crisis rocking the state chapter of the PDP following the emergence of the running mate Dr James Dalok to the gubernatorial candidate of the party Senator Jeremiah Useini.

It would be recalled that the Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau has been in crisis since the gubernatorial candidate picked his running mate. The choice of Dr Dalok had polarized the party as some staunch members threatening to work against the party. Piqued by the development, the National Secretariat of the party over the weekend sent a reconciliation committee led by the former Senate President Senator Iyorcha Ayu to resolve the internal crisis.

The former Senate President who briefed journalist after the meeting at the state party secretariat in Jos members of his committee had reconciled all the party leaders adding that they had also agreed to work together for the success of the party in the 2019 poll.

“We are asked to come to Plateau to look into a few party problems, some arising from the previous elections and so on, assess the situation and find a solution. I am happy to say that we were warmly received and they answered all our questions very honestly and at the end of the day, we have agreed to put out every grievance behind us and all differences have been successfully resolved”.

“One of the issues we resolved was the issue of some leaders not been carried along by the party leadership. The other issue is the former Governor Fidelis Tapgun who has resigned as the chairman of the elders’ council. I am happy to announce to you that he has accepted to take the position back.

” The Governorship candidate has also promised us that everyone would be carried along when he wins an election in an all-inclusive manner and that no part of the state will be neglected in terms of developmental projects that have been stunted in the state since APC came to power,” he said.

He added that the leaders have agreed to work together as one united family under the leadership of Damishi Sango as the party chairman who has agreed to work with other party leaders to deepen the reconciliation process down to the ward level:

According to him, the leaders have also agreed to mobilise their supporters for the campaigns and agreed as well to deepen the reconciliation process down to the ward levels.

Present at the meeting which held at the PDP headquarters in Jos were former Governor Jonah Jang, former Governor Fidelis Tapgun, former Deputy Senate President,Ibrahim Mantu, governorship candidate, Senator Jeremiah Useni ,state party chairman, Damishi Sango,former Governorship aspirants and the five Deputy Governorship nominees whose non selection caused major division in the party
