It’s everyone’s duty to assist the underprivileged —Owojori

A Nigeria-trained nurse based in Canada and gospel singer, Mrs Rachael Owojori, has stated that assisting the underprivileged has been her priority, and this should also be for others who are well-to-do in the society.

Owojori said that there is always a purpose for any action or decision taken by individuals in life, adding that singing is a calling to her and this gave her the privilege to assist poor people in the society.

She said that in whatever she does, she always carry her husband along, adding that “my husband and I have assisted orphanage homes and a few churches with what God has endowed us with,  both home and in the diaspora.

“We regularly donate to missionary in the northern part of Nigeria particularly, Benue State. We also make donations to churches and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Nigeria and here in Canada.”

Owojori further said that she prefers assisting the needy through the church so that whatever she gave out would reach the people they are meant for.

Interacting with the talented gospel singer, Owojori  bares her mind on inspiration behind her new single, titled ‘ Give me Jesus’ , her interest in humanitarian service, her experience with music promoters, among other sundry issues .

Owojori, a household name in gospel music circles, both in Nigeria and in the diaspora, added that she likes to sing gospel music to win souls and give back to the society, especially, the underprivileged through humanitarian services.

“I have dedicated my life to put smiles on the faces of the underprivileged and evangelise through my ministration in social gathering, concerts and churches.”

Speaking about her new single; Owojori appreciated the support of friends and families, as well as fans both in Nigeria and in the diaspora.

“This song is more than just music. It is a prayer of commitment. God inspired me to compose ‘Give Me Jesus’ at a time when I was asked to stop singing gospel songs but I stood firm in my beliefs and refused to compromise because I know that fame, money and pretty much, everything without Jesus is nothing.

“The inspiration behind this new single ‘Give Me Jesus’ is not far-fetched as it reflects on how Christians are being targeted because of their beliefs,” she added.

On how she copes with enormous task of her career as a trained nurse, family commitments and being a gospel singer, she said:”I dedicate my time and money to support the church, the underprivileged and community.”
