ITF to graduate 5,300 trainees under 2023 special skills intervention programs

Arrangements have been concluded by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) to graduate and present start-up packs to 5,300 Nigerians under its 2023 special skills intervention programs.

In a statement signed by its Director, Public Affairs Department, Mrs. Suleyol Fred-Chagu, the ITF said the graduation ceremonies slated for November 13 and 24, 2023, will take place across the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

It pointed out that state governors will be special guests at the events in their respective states, while the Minister of the FCT, Dr. Nyesom Wike, and the Minister of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment (FMITI), Dr. Doris Anite Uzoaka, will be the special guests and distinguished guests, respectively, at the national closing ceremony in Abuja. 

According to the statement, the programs that have been implemented under the 2023 skills intervention programs include the National Industrial Skills Development Programme (NISDP), the Women Skills Empowerment Programme (WOSEP), the Construction Skills Empowerment Programme (CONSEP), the Agripreneurship Skills Empowerment Programme (AgSEP), and the Skills Training and Empowerment Programme for the Physically Challenged (STEPP-C). 

It added that implementation of the programs, which commenced in June 2023, lasted for a period of three months and equipped trainees with cutting-edge skills in several trades, namely: solar power installation, hairdressing and beauty care, tailoring and fashion design, plumbing and pipefitting, ladies wigcap making, leatherwork (shoe and bag making), painting and plastering of Paris, and integrated farming.
