Former members of the Aare Tunde Alabi group loyal to the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State, Gboyega Isiaka have dumped their leader who purportedly defected to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
The group, however, reiterated its commitment to the ADC and its candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
It would be recalled that the leader of the group Aare Tunde Alabi, who is a one-time commissioner in the state defected to APM about two weeks ago.
However, in a two-page communique co-signed by ten leaders, the group alleged that their former leader’s decision was financially motivated.
Chairman of the breakaway group, Alhaji Ajisegiri said members of the group decided to stay in the ADC because they believe in the party’s victory at the elections.
They said: “We unequivocally condemn the defection which was borne out of personal interest and financial inducement.

“It is uncultured, unwarranted and inhuman at this crucial point in time especially for a person of former commissioner and a local government chairman on two different occasions.
“That Aare Tunde Alabi is on his own. He didn’t carry us along while scheming to defect to APM despite the magnitude of patronages that have accrued to him on our account.
“It is our belief that we have been vindicated by this singular attitude as all members had complained about this attitude in the past.
“We have sowed our political gems, as individual as well as a group, into the prosperity of ADC. We, therefore, believe in the electoral fortunes of the party, ADC, in the forthcoming elections.
“We believe in the leadership of our great party, and it’s ability to lead us to victory,” the communique read.
The leaders who also signed the communiqué include secretary, Adisa Soyoye, Wale Famuyiwa, Wole Adeyi, Dele Erinsan, Layiwola Karunwi, Balogun Olaleye, Saula Makinde, Dele Solola and Alhaji Olonade.
