Is ponmo dangerous for my health?

Published by

I love eating Ponmo (dried cow hide). Unfortunately, I recently read that the delicacy is harmful as it contains some dangerous chemicals. Kindly help me to clarify.

The raw form of Ponmo (processed cow hide and skin and eaten as ‘meat’) is usually processed through burning with car tires, petrol and diesel. Through this method, some harmful chemicals may be introduced to the Ponmo thus making it dangerous to health.  However, Ponmo that is not processed in the above named way remains safe and not dangerous to health.
