A 24 year-old, Ireland Returnee, Babalola Rotimi Junior, who was accused of killing his father and stabbing his mother to a state of unconsciousness, was on Wednesday remanded at the Ikoyi Prisons pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
Babalola allegedly committed the crime on December 4, 2016, at about 11.30am, at their residence situated at 11, Ibitayo Street, Magodo G.R.A, Phase 2, Lagos.
It was gathered that the accused stabbed his father, Babalola Rotimi, 59, to death with a kitchen knife before going ahead to also stab his mother, Adijat Babalola, who is presently battling for her life in an undisclosed hospital.
The Magistrate (Mrs) Bola Folarin-Williams, of an Ebutte Metà Magistrate Court ordered his remand in prison.
The case has been adjourned till January 23, 2017, pending legal advice.
The accused, while in the court however showed no sign of remorse and regret for his action, and claiming his father deserved what he dished to him.
“My father wanted to use me for money rituals. I don’t know why he would want to do that to me despite being a practising Muslim.
“My parents would lock me up and send thugs to beat me up, I stabbed them out of frustration and because he would not give me money for upkeep.
“I went to Shoprite to purchase two knives to defend myself and to gain my freedom because I was always locked up in my room,” Rotimi Junior said.
