AS detectives intensify investigations into the alleged budget padding between former House Leader, Abdulmumuni Jibrin and the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, detectives are set to visit Dogara’s multi-billion naira farm in Nassarawa State.
Police sources disclosed to the Nigerian Tribune in Abuja, that this was in its bid to build up its investigations properly before inviting the Speaker and the principal officers of the House.
Jibrin had, in statements and documents he presented to the police, alleged that the multi-billion naira farm in Nassarawa was like a World Bank project.
According to Jibrin, investigators should ask Dogara how he came about the multi-billion naira projects standing on about 20 acres of land.
The source said “we are already building our case, it is when we finish that we will now invite all those mentioned in the petition by Jibrin.”
The source revealed that the investigators were yet to invite all those Jibrin indicted in the petition, adding that the case was being investigated gradually, as it was not something anybody should rush, but the most important thing was to get to the truth and the bottom of the matter.
“The truth of the matter is that we have not invited Dogara or any of the principal officers, but when it is time, we will invite and confront them with the documents and evidence we have so far collated. Nigerians should not be in a rush, because this is a very fundamental issue,” the source pointed out.
Former Appropriation Committee chairman had told his investigators that he was available at anytime he was needed to substantiate his allegations with documents against the Speaker.
The source added that investigators were now getting more facts from Jibrin’s revelation and would act when the time was ripe.
