Invest in education sector, Ondo students charge govt

The leadership of Ondo students, under the auspices of the National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS), has charged the state government to increase investment in the state’s education sector to accelerate the pace of development in the state.

The outgoing National President of NAOSS, Hammed Oyelade, made this statement in Akure, the state capital, during the emergence of Comrade Alade Temitope Tosin as the new Executive President of the student association.

Oyelade emphasized that the state government should implement policies that will ensure adequate funding for the education sector.

He commended the state government for its significant investment in education and for making life easier for students through the prompt payment of bursaries and scholarships.

According to him, some of the educational reforms introduced by the state government have positively impacted the lives of students.

He specifically thanked the state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for his support of the education sector, urging the new leadership of the association to cooperate with the government to further develop education in the state.

The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Timilehin Olowookere, described the election as the most peaceful and credible in the history of the association, noting that legitimate students of Ondo State origin from various parts of the country participated in the election.

The newly elected executive members include: Oyesaanu Fayowole as Senate President, Arafat Mohammed as Vice President, Agbeni Kehinde as General Secretary, Ajaman Dein Desmond as Assistant General Secretary, Ajisola Kehinde as Treasurer, Elijah Segun as Financial Secretary, and Ganiyu Yusuf as Public Relations Officer.

Other members are: Saliub Shina as Deputy Senate President, Oluloro Emmanuel as Clerk, Agboola Olakunle as Director of Special Duties, Olasegiri Bode as Director of Sports, Odunayo Folashade Adeniyi as Director of Socials, and Ajayi Isreal Olusegun as Chief Whip.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected National Executive President, Alade, expressed his gratitude to the students for a peaceful election and promised to prioritize their welfare.

He also pledged to cooperate with the state government to ensure the well-being of all Ondo State students across the country.

Alade, a student of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa, is a native of Idanre in the Idanre local government area of the state.
