INTERSWITCH, one of Africa’s leading integrated payments and digital commerce companies, recently gathered government, financial services, technology and business stakeholders in Ibadan for the latest edition of TechConnect 6.0, its flagship industry engagement series.

Building on the conversations initiated in Imo State and Abuja, the Ibadan edition focused on the role of shared infrastructure in enabling business growth and the importance of translating financial inclusion into tangible economic impact, particularly for underserved individuals and communities.

Held in Ibadan as part of the nationwide TechConnect 6.0 series, with the theme: “Built for What’s Next: Designing Adaptive Financial Infrastructure for a Dynamic Market,” the event brought together key stakeholders to explore how adaptive infrastructure, innovation and cross-sector collaboration can support sustainable growth in Nigeria’s digital economy.

Delivering the keynote address, Managing Director, Ilorin Innovation Hub, Temi Kolawole, addressed the importance of building solutions and infrastructure that can support innovation, business expansion and sustainable economic development.

The keynote reinforced the need for an enabling ecosystem in which technology, collaboration and scalable infrastructure can help businesses navigate market complexities and respond to emerging opportunities.

Also, speaking on the significance of the Ibadan edition, Vice President, Business Innovation and Growth, Interswitch, Tyoyila Aga, said: “Building for what’s next requires more than adopting new technologies; it requires connected infrastructure that can evolve alongside changing business needs and customer expectations.

“As we look to scale digital services and expand economic participation, collaboration and shared solutions will be critical to creating systems that are secure, resilient and inclusive. Through TechConnect, we are bringing stakeholders together to explore practical ways to translate innovation into sustainable business growth and ensure that the benefits of digital transformation reach more people and communities.”

The event featured a panel discussion, with the theme: “Building for Scale: Shared Solutions and Infrastructure for Business Growth,” that examined the role of shared infrastructure and collaborative approaches in helping businesses expand efficiently. Discussions explored how connected systems, technology adoption and partnerships across industries can help organisations overcome operational barriers, improve efficiency and build solutions that can scale with evolving business needs.

The session also considered the importance of collaboration among technology providers, financial institutions, businesses and other ecosystem stakeholders in developing infrastructure that supports growth and creates opportunities for wider economic participation.

Additionally, a fireside chat discussion, titled: “From Financial Inclusion to Economic Impact: Reaching the Underserved at Scale”, explored the relationship between access to financial services and meaningful economic participation. The conversation examined the need to extend digital financial services to underserved individuals and communities, while considering how accessible, reliable and relevant solutions can translate financial inclusion into tangible benefits for households, small businesses and local economies.

Across the sessions, speakers and participants explored the value of adaptive, secure and interoperable financial infrastructure in enabling business growth and expanding access to digital services. The conversations also underscored the role of sustained collaboration in translating technological innovation into practical solutions that address real business and societal needs.

TechConnect Ibadan featured a showcase of Interswitch solutions and capabilities, demonstrating how technology and payments infrastructure can support organisations as they respond to evolving customer expectations and navigate the changing digital economy.

Through TechConnect 6.0, Interswitch continues to provide a platform for stakeholders across the public and private sectors to exchange perspectives, explore emerging opportunities and consider practical approaches to strengthening the infrastructure underpinning Africa’s digital economy. The Ibadan edition further advanced these conversations, with a focus on building scalable solutions, enabling business growth and ensuring that the benefits of digital financial services extend to underserved communities.

As the TechConnect 6.0 series progresses towards its Lagos grand finale, the conversations in Ibadan reinforce the importance of collaboration, innovation and adaptive infrastructure in building a resilient and inclusive digital economy.
