The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) on Sunday said that the Nigerian Troops had successfully repelled the attack by the dreaded Boko Haram/Islamic West Africa Province Terrorist fighters on Munguno town in Borno and inflicted heavy casualties on their Camps in the renewed efforts to end insurgents activities in the North East region of the country.
This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja by the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, DMO, Major General John Enenche.
He explained that the operation was carried out on Saturday the Ground troops of Sector 3 and Air Task Force Operation LAFIYA DOLE on the Terrorists who attempted to breach Munguno Town in Borno State on Saturday.

According to him, ” during the combined brave Sector 3 counter-attack and precise ISR and munition delivery by the Air Task Force, 20 Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters were neutralized while 4 of their gun trucks destroyed completely.
He added that the Troops also captured some of the terrorists and their equipment and those captured were undergoing intensive interrogation.
According to the statement, “the High Command of the Armed Forces of Nigeria commended the Land component and Air Task Force of Operation LAFIYA DOLE for the dexterity and professionalism exhibited during this operation while the Troops were further encouraged to remain resolute and decisive in their ground and air offensives in the theatre until normalcy was restored to the region.
