A faction of the caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the House Representatives on Tuesday raised the alarm over the continuous genocide rocking Plateau, Kaduna and other parts of the country by terrorists unchallenged by security forces.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja shortly after the plenary, the group challenged President Muhammadu Buhari to show sincerity and commitment in ending the bloodletting which had claimed several lives with no single arrest or prosecution of the perpetrators in the last few days.
The group through the address read by Rep. Solomon Maren, representing Mangu and Bokkos Federal Constituency of Plateau State lamented that the growing attacks on Christians in Mangu and Bokkos areas, Zangon Kataf and other parts of the North, might have been encouraged by the seeming unwillingness of the President to act.

According to him, “We have drifted from the ideas of the founding fathers. The government is not only complacent but is condoning these hoodlums and probably protecting them by dealing with the issues with kid gloves.
“Because, no single prosecution of those arrested over the years, no categorical statement and policy to fight this menace to finish.
“Even when killer herdsmen were designated and referred to as most dangerous terrorist gang in the world, our government didn’t classify them as such, one can easily conclude that genocide has been declared on my people as indeed Plateau State.
” We call on Mr President to show sincerity and commitment, match words with actions to secure all Nigerians wherever they are, as the Commander in Chief, he should provide security Agencies with modern equipment, resources and the political will to make them succeed.
“We call on the international community to save our people from being extinct going by the numbers killed every day, which is alarming, is a cause for concern.
“Our people need your show of love at this point, to provide them with food, water and sanitation as a matter of urgency. The IDPs are joining other IDPs who have been taking refuge in the same location for over a year now
” Kindly impress it on the President of Nigeria to end the genocide of the innocent, harmless and defenceless people of my constituency at home in Plateau and outside Plateau State
“We call on the International Human Right Organisation to evoke the chatter on Human rights, in the protection of lives in the country.
