Insecurity: Buhari has failed, says PDP National caucus

•Says Nigeria is in a state of anarchy

The National Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the government of President Muhammadu Buhari as a failure as according to the leading lights of the main opposition party, he has become powerless as a leader.

Rising from its meeting hosted by Governor Udom Emmanuel in Akwa Ibom Government Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja on Friday night, the Caucus posited that security of lives and property can no longer be guaranteed as the country has descended into a state of anarchy.

The Caucus met to appraise the worrisome security situation in the country.

The National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus read the communique issued at the end of the meeting.

It read in part: “The meeting which had in attendance elected National Officers of the party, Governors, PDP leaders in the National Assembly and other stakeholders, focused entirely on the worsening security situation in the country.

“At the end of the very interactive meeting, the PDP National Caucus issued the following communiqué:

“On loss of lives and property in Nigeria: The meeting noted that Nigeria is fast descending into anarchy, with the security of lives and property practically non-existent.

“This state of anarchy is so widespread that every state in the country is affected. Effective policing and security is no longer guaranteed even for ordinary citizens and for day to day affairs in Nigeria.

“Terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling, rape, arson, mindless murder of citizens and even security agents is ravaging the land.

“Criminals have taken complete control of most aspects of our lives, unchecked. The government seems powerless to act. Nigeria has become one giant killing field. The state is helpless and unable to solve the problem.

“The presence of government is no longer felt. Everyone is on his own. It is as if Nigeria has no government again.

“The meeting also noted the unrestricted expansion of Boko Haram into newer and inner territories close to the seat of government in Abuja and expressed alarm at the capitulation of the security agencies and President Muhammadu Buhari’s APC government.

“In the view of the meeting, President Buhari has failed the people at a time of grave national crises,” the Caucus declared.

Among the party chieftains present at the meeting were the Chairman of PDP Governors Forum, Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta), Darius Ishaku (Taraba); former Senate Presidents, Bukola Saraki and Adolphus Wabara;

former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu; House Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu; former PDP National Chairman, Okwesilieze Nwodo; Mariya Waziri (PDP National Woman Leader), and Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.
