A Canada-based Nigerian cleric, Pastor Amos Dada, of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Bethel headquarters in Canada has X-rayed Nigeria’s challenges and said “inept leadership, consumer mentality, greed and selfishness, and complacency on the part of the citizenry” are debarring the nation’s progress.
Pastor Dada, who holds a PhD in engineering, while speaking in a zoom meeting tagged: Breakfast with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, lamented that Africa allowed itself to be cheated by failing to be a producer continent and a continent that should rise up to its challenges of development in spite of being blessed with abundant potentials for greatness.
In the programme he co-participated with other eminent clerics, Dada spoke and prayed on the topic “Growth and Good governance in Africa”, praying God to “help the current and future political leaders, the church leaders, the market women, youth, students, men and women in different sectors of the economy, banking sectors, civil servants, academia, the judiciary, the legislature and the executive to have the interest of this continent in their hearts.”
Dada prayed to God to “give our leaders the spirit of Joshua and Caleb, the spirit that says we are not grasshoppers in Africa, that we can conquer our giants, challenges and make Africa great and better than other continents.”
He said Africa needed God’s help to develop its human, material and natural resources by jettisoning consumer mentality and embracing producer mentality, “that we shall no more sell our resources as raw materials and immigrants to Western world nations who will transform them to finished products and sell them to us at high ending profits.”
He lamented what he described as self-imposed poverty in Africa and begged God to deliver Africa from that, saying “Lord deliver Africa from leadership that is inept, corrupt, inhuman, insensitive, uncaring and grossly incompetent.”
He said when we develop our economy, “our children will no more perish in the Mediterranean Sea in search for a better life. O Lord we pray for knowledge and understanding and wisdom for our leaders.”
He likened Africa to the description of China by Napoleon Bonaparte who said “Let China sleep, for when she wakes, she will shake the world”, noting that “today China has woken up and they are conquering the world. We on this platform during this special Chief Obasanjo breakfast meeting this first day of May 2021 prophesy to the sleeping African continent – wake up and shake the world and conquer the world not only spiritually as you have done but in knowledge, in commerce, technology, industry, integrity, human capacity development and in good governance in Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen.”
