I’ll do the will of Bauchi people to safeguard our political future — Gov Bala

Published by

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has declared that he will act in accordance with the wishes of the people of the State to safeguard its political future.

He stated that he remains a leading member of Nigeria’s main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), despite ongoing internal leadership challenges within the party.

A visibly confident Bala Mohammed dismissed speculations that he had made arrangements to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing such claims as unsubstantiated lies.

The Governor made the remarks while speaking with journalists shortly after Eid prayers marking the end of the 2026 30-day Ramadan fast.

He strongly reaffirmed his political stance as a PDP leader, calling for mature and issue-based political discourse ahead of the 2027 elections.

Stressing further, the Governor described the issues within the PDP as “not insurmountable,” expressing confidence in the party’s key players to resolve them through frank but meaningful dialogue and strategic engagement.

According to him, “We are where we are today. Politics is dynamic, but we must be strategic in playing it to the advantage of the teeming supporters and party members.”

Bala Mohammed further emphasized, “Political leadership must be guided by vision and integrity rather than desperation for power,” noting that, “Bauchi people are politically aware and cannot be misled.”

He also called on political actors in the State to avoid bitterness and divisive tendencies that could destabilize the polity ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging them instead to embrace peaceful coexistence and healthy competition.

According to Bala Mohammed, “This is a State with a rich democratic history. We must not engage in politics of hostility. Power comes from God, and the people will always decide.”

The Governor highlighted his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, stressing that the political space in Bauchi remains open to all, including opposition actors, without intimidation or suppression.

He reaffirmed his commitment to leading Bauchi State with transparency and responsibility, pledging not to betray the trust of the people.

He also assured young people of opportunities to participate in the political process, pledging that his leadership would continue to support emerging leaders in realising their ambitions.

While acknowledging security and socio-economic challenges, Mohammed maintained that his government remains focused on delivering good governance through prudent resource management and sustained development initiatives.

He urged citizens to remain vigilant and supportive of security agencies, noting that stability is critical to both political and economic progress.
