Family heads in Ibadan, Oyo State, otherwise known as Authentic Mogajis, on Friday, urged Nigerians to pray for the recovery of a former governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, rather than wish him dead.
The mogajis said people should consider his contributions to national development and not personal grievances.
Rumour of Ajimobi’s death circulated on social media on Thursday night before his media aide, Bolaji Tunji, issued a statement to debunk it.
The family heads, in a statement by their publicity secretary, Chief Wale Oladoja, said the “announcement” of the former governor’s death by his “enemies” was unfortunate, disheartening, and inhuman.

The group warned people spreading such a negative rumor, especially those around the hospital where the politician is receiving treatment, to be mindful of the information they dish out to the public.
“Wishing the immediate past governor of our dear state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, dead is inhuman, disheartening, and unfortunate. Ajimobi has contributed greatly to the development of Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
“He might have offended some individuals but that is not enough to wish him dead. We want those around him to be very careful before spreading fake news around. We also want to encourage the family members to think outside the box in going about his treatment and recovery,” the mogajis said.
Executive members of the Authentic Mogajis are Mogaji Ademola Olasomi, Mogaji Molade Adeyemo Rasaq, Mogaji Aperin Adekunle Olaonumi, Mogaji Itabigbo Badmus Adewale, Mogaji Olugbode Abiodun Tesleem, Mogaji Osho Falere Fagbenro and Mogaji Olanrewaju Fatai.
