There was more one reason many people stayed till late in the night to watch Simi perform at the much-talked about SimiLive in Lagos concert that went down penultimate weekend.

Apart from the fact that the show paraded some of Nigeria’s beautiful musicians drawn from the hip hop and R&B genre, the feeling that Adekunle Gold would perform with her girl on the same stage was enough to keep many people waiting that night.

Simi and Gold have managed to keep their romantic affairs private despite pressure from all sides to force them to confess, but it was only a matter of time before the cat was let out of the bag.

It will be recalled that Gold had surprised Simi in London months during her London concert when he he suddenly emerged from the crowd to join her woman on stage for their first live performance outside the shores of the country.

That performance set tongues wagging that night and many people had looked forward to a repeat of the same mind-blowing performance in Lagos.

Despite the hitches that almost ruined Simi’s day of joy, Adekunle Gold was all she needed to calm her frayed nerves. The show had started late because Simi insisted the sound must be perfect and arrangement of the venue must portray the show as what it should be.

While many people were left stranded outside the Balmore Convention Centre, Victoria Island, lamenting the refusal of Simi to come on stage, those who had found their way into the palatial hall waited with no sign of Simi’s appearance.

With the perfomances of Mr Eazi, Falz, Zoro and Nonso Amadi, the people wanted more and they would not call on Simi until she stormed the stage.

After two hours, Simi finally emerged from the back stage to the delight of her fans. She apologised for coming out late and tried to make up with her back-to-back hits.

It didn’t take too long before Adekunle came out to hit his gold as he and Simi got cozy on stage in what could best be described as a confirmation of their dating rumour.

As much as they tried to stay on the script as their fans waited for the golden moment to see if one would plant a kiss on the cheeks of another, one could tell from the look on their faces that there was more to the performance- they appeared to be soaked in each other’s love.

They thrilled the audience and left them with the impression that they may yet emerge as the latest Nigerian couple to watch out for in 2019.

As if that was not enough, Simi took to his Instagram handle to shower praise on Adekunle Gold, saying  “God knew what He was doing when our paths crossed. Your support is immense; your love is overwhelming in the best way. Thank you champ.”

Gold responded: “I would like to cover you in joy and celebration. You were beautiful, electrifying, and incredible tonight my darling. I am so proud of you. Thank you for letting me share the stage with you. It will always be my honour. Forever in your army.”
