There was pandemonium in Ifewara community, Atakumosa West Local Government Area, Osun State, on Tuesday evening, when illegal miners allegedly clashed with youths of the area.
Though, details of the incident were still sketchy as of the time of filing this report, houses and other valuable properties were said to have been burnt during the skirmishes.
The actual cause of the clash still remain unknown, inhabitants of the community were fleeing their homes for fear of being attacked overnight by the illegal miners, who are mostly Hausa and Fulani.
Credible sources in the troubled community informed Nigerian Tribune that the development had created palpable fear as people were running helter-skelter to avoid being caught up in the melee.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Osun State Police command, Mrs Folasade Odoro confirmed the clash.
Speaking in a telephone chat with Nigerian Tribune, Odoro stated that; “It is true, but the full details of the clash is not ready.”
“We have moved our policemen to the community. I can assure you that the Police is already on top of the situation. There is no cause for alarm,” she said.
