Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide (Ayo Ni O), the proprietors of Cherubim and Seraphim College, Sabo-Oke, Ilorin, Kwara State has condemned the alleged forceful opening of the school gate last Friday.
It is recalled that the state government officials had reportedly carried out the government’s directive to open some school gates, allegedly locked up by some churches last Friday, after the government had directed teachers and students to resume classes.
In a statement by the PTA chairman of the school, on behalf of the church, Special Apostle Michael Ore Oyeyipo, said, “there was no introduction or notice for such unholy action even when our Fathers and Mothers in the Lord, were on seat and other members of the church were praying.
The church, which insisted that it would not allow the wearing of hijab in the school, said that it is a Christian school.
“We wish to express our displeasure to the occurrence at the gate of the College premises at about 10:00 am this day Friday, March 19, 2021, when some unidentified persons in Hilux vehicles backed by military men came to forcefully break the gate of the school.
“There was no introduction or notice for such unholy action even who our Fathers and Mothers in the Lord, were on seat and other members of the church were praying.
“If the aim of these military-backed breaks is to allow Muslim Student to enter our college premises with Hijab. We want to say unequivocally that;
“We reject the use of Hijab by any Muslim Student in our College because this is a Christian Mission School.
“The school was established in March 1969 and since then the proprietors had put up a lot of buildings within the premises such as; The Administrative Block, The College Science Laboratory, Classroom Buildings, Hostels for Students, Dining Hall, School Hall.”
