An association under the Arewa Elders and Youths Forum (AEYF), led by Chairman Salisu Magaji, has called on those spreading negativity about Bashir Ojulari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd, to stop and instead support him in his efforts to succeed.
Magaji clarified that those who are criticizing and blackmailing the NNPC chief for not being a Northerner should recognize that Mr. Ojulari is a bona fide citizen of Kwara State, which is part of the 19 northern states in the country.
Furthermore, Magaji emphasized that not only is Ojulari from the North, but he is also deserving of his appointment.
He stated, “The country needs capable hands to contribute to achieving the ‘Renewed Hopes’ agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.” Given Mr. Ojulari’s numerous achievements and past endeavours, Magaji believes he is well-suited to deliver on this mandate.
He made this known while speaking with the press in Kano, adding that it is high time, “We Nigerian-do away with sentiment, but should measure people appointed to position, based on their capability to deliver”.
“We were ready to mobilise all the Northerners, women, youths, even the politicians from the North, Governor and the traditional rulers to give him maximum support under President Tinubu to deliver in the oil sector”
“We were calling on him to help in the exploration of Kolmani oil drilling in Bauchi and Gombe states because he has been making views on Komani oil drilling,” Magaji said.
According to him, “It will be recalled that Komani oil drilling, was abandoned, but the present government of President Bola Tinubu’, has raised hope in resuscitated the drilling.
He therefore added that “We the people of North should not dance to the tune music of some disgruntled elements to blackmailing an innocent man, to tag him as non-Northerner, without substantiated facts and figure.
Magaji, therefore, hinted that “if by tomorrow, a person from Kaba, who happened to be a Yoruba, is appointed as a Minister, will these enemies of progress can also come out and label him as non-Northerner, the question we should asked them, is Kaba not part of Kogi state and Kogi state not part of the 19 northern states.”
