Herdsmen/farmers clash: Count me out of Ossisa attacks —LG Chairman

Published by

The Chairman of Ndokwa east council of Delta state, Mrs Nkechi Chukwurah, has described as malicious and falsehood the allegation that she sponsored the attacks in Ossisa community where four herdsmen were killed.

Mrs. Chukwurah also said it was unbelievable for political opponents to associate her with the call that Fulani herdsmen should relocated from the council area.

Speaking to reporters at a stakeholders meeting organised at the instance of the senior special assistant to the state governor on security matters, Ogbueshi Cassidy Iloba, to find a lasting solution to the troubled Ossisa community where herdsmen were at loggerheads with farmers, the chairman maintained that her political enemies were at work using every means as a ploy to smear her character.

According to her, she had mediated severally in the crisis in Ossisa and other communities in the local government with other stakeholders and wondered why she could be accused of attacking the people that she was defending.

She told the reporters that Ossisa people knew that some persons were trying to malign her reputation by rumors that could not be substantiated.

She disclosed that she had been moving from one community to the other in the local government preaching peace between them and cattle rearers.

It will be recalled that Ossisa community has been a theatre of war between herdsmen and youths in recent times even as the state government and police were on top of the situation.
