A vigilante leader, Mr Jude Akiru, has been reportedly killed by gunmen at the wee hours of Friday in Delta State.
Reports say the vigilante chairman of Jeddo Community in Okpe Local Government Area of the state was murdered by gunmen at about 2:00 a.m, on Friday, August 20, at Oil Junction in the community.
The tragedy has, as gathered, thrown the sleepy community into mourning.
Sources said the gunmen requested Akiru, popularly known as Scosco, to switch off the torchlight he was pointing at them.
His refusal to obey the instruction, it was further gathered, angered his assailants who opened fire on him.
The gruesome murder has reportedly led to mild unrest, as all roads leading to the axis were said to have been barricaded while an urgent town hall meeting of all residents has been summoned by the leader of the community.
The remain of the deceased is said to have been in a mortuary.
Meanwhile, Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, was yet to confirm the killing as of the time of filing the report.
