In a bid to improve access to healthcare for vulnerable citizens, the women’s wing of the City Boy Movement, a political support group, has organised a free medical outreach for about 1,000 elderly persons in Ogun West senatorial district of Ogun State.
The outreach, which featured free medical consultations, health checks and distribution of drugs for age-related ailments, was held at Oronna Hall in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area.
The initiative formed part of the activities marking the inaugural executive meeting of the group in Ogun West, with organisers describing the programme as an effort to complement government interventions in healthcare delivery at the grassroots.

Leaders of the group said the outreach is designed to support elderly residents who often struggle to access affordable medical services, noting that preventive healthcare remained critical to improving the wellbeing of senior citizens.
Speaking, the newly inaugurated matron of the group, Olori Adebisi Olaotan, urged women leaders across the district to sustain community-based interventions aimed at improving public health outcomes.
Also, the Ogun West Women Leader of the group, Alhaja Modinat Adesina, said the outreach reflected the movement’s belief that political engagement should be accompanied by humanitarian efforts that directly impact people’s lives.
“Our goal is not only political mobilisation but also direct intervention that improves lives. Today’s medical outreach shows that commitment,” she said.
She also expressed support for Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, describing him as a leader capable of prioritising healthcare and other social services if elected governor of the state.
Members commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his contributions to healthcare and social welfare in the state.
Some beneficiaries, including Mrs R.A. Matanmi and Mrs Olusoji Taiwo, lauded the organisers for the initiative, saying the outreach enabled many elderly participants to check their health status for the first time and access medications free of charge.
They appealed for more interventions of such nature amid rising healthcare costs and economic challenges.
