BADRUDDINIL-ISLAMIY As-Salat Circle of Nigeria has advised Muslims to keep positive attitude at all times and accept that there are events that, at times, one cannot control.
The group gave the advice in a communique after its eighth bi-annual national conference held in Lagos between Monday and Wednesday.
According to the communique signed by Dr Taofiq Salahudeen (chairman), Hajiya Rihanat Oyerinde (secretary) and other members of the communique committee, the theme of the conference was ‘Nigeria Muslims and Contemporary Issues and Challenges’.

It said at the conference scholars also discussed sub-themes such as drug abuse and misuse; environmental pollution and its effect on the Muslim Ummah; building of a virile Islamic home and stress management.
The scholars, the communique said, identified some factors responsible for stress in the society, in which Muslims are not excluded, and therefore advised them to ensure regular exercise and learn relaxation techniques such as yoga and sporting activities that are in line with Shariah.
“Badrud-din observes that stress could inhibit one’s closeness to Allah and hence the need to effectively manage it to ensure regular observance of our daily prayers (salat) and other divine activities,” the communique said.
The group also observed that some Nigerian Muslims “have a culture of waste and lackadaisical attitude towards the educational development of their children and wards, as well as establishment of schools and hospitals” and then called for a positive attitudinal change in these directions.
It urged Muslim youths to be steadfast, just and Godfearing, just as it appealed to the body of Muslim scholars to be upright in the discharge of their duties.
“Badrud-din notes with dismay the involvement of our youths in abuse and misuse of drug substances and thereby implores individuals, parents and NGOs to be wary of these illicit activities.
“Considering the numerous consequences and adverse effects of drug abuse, the reactions of which could be very fatal, Badrud-din urges Nigerian Muslim youths to desist from this life-threatening habits,” it added.
