Insecurity has become a major concern in Nigeria. It has affected lives, education, businesses and freedom of movement of citizens.
The government needs to intensify efforts to tackle insecurity and protect the lives and property of Nigerians.
Recently, 116 schoolchildren were abducted in Borno State. Also, 20 corps members were abducted in Imo State. Several other incidents of kidnapping and killings are also reported every day.
This act has caused fear, pain and uncertainty among the victims and their families and it has to stop.
The government at all levels should take stronger and more practical measures to prevent further occurrence of insecurity incidents.
Security agencies should be equipped with modern technology, vehicles, communication equipment and adequate personnel to respond quickly to security threats.
Also, the government should improve intelligence gathering and information sharing among the military, police and other security agencies. There should also be stronger inter-agency coordination, increased patrols and security checkpoints in vulnerable areas.
There should also be stronger security around schools, especially in communities where kidnapping and other violent crimes are common.
The government should work closely with local communities, traditional rulers and community leaders. Residents often understand the security situation in their areas and can provide useful information that may help security agencies prevent attacks.
Finally, victims and their families should receive adequate support during and after security incidents.
In conclusion, insecurity requires urgent and sustained attention.
