The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, has accepted the resignation letter of the Commissioner for Internal Security and Special Services, Maj.-Gen. (retd) Muhammad Idris.
This was contained in a statement issued by Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, in Kano, a copy of which was made available to the press on Wednesday.
However, as of the time of filing this report, no reason was provided for the sudden resignation of the retired general from the post.
Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude for Idris’ service, acknowledging his contributions to the ministry’s initial takeoff.
It is worth recalling that Maj.-Gen. (retd) Idris was appointed in August 2024.
The governor wished Idris a peaceful and fulfilling retirement, praising his dedication to public service and patriotism.
Idris’ resignation follows that of Mohammed Diggol, the Commissioner for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, who stepped down on 5 January.
