Taraba state governor, Agbu Kefas on Saturday solicited a partnership with the United States African Development Foundation (USADF) to end poverty in the state.

Kefas told the USADF Country Programme Coordinator in Nigeria, Mr Andrew Echono in Abuja that the idea was to help develop key life-changing sectors for youth and women development and create avenues that would boost the living conditions of the citizens.

In a statement issued by the governor’s Chief press secretary, Yusuf Sanda, Kefas also disclosed that the planned partnership is to advance developmental opportunities that would attract the desired growth for Taraba.

“I am confident in the solutions of USADF to deal with poverty, and I believe that they are realistic, workable and achievable.

“My desire to establish a partnership with USADF is to enable my administration to develop key life-changing sectors for youth and women development and create avenues that would boost the living conditions of Tarabans. The partnership would advance developmental opportunities and attract my administration’s desired growth for Taraba,” Kefas assured.

In his response, Mr Andrew Echono, the Programme Coordinator of USADF in Nigeria, expressed readiness to sign an agreement with the Taraba government. He also disclosed that USADF has entered into agreements with several state governments, pursuing various projects that are operated at providing matching grants for projects in rural communities.

“Our foundation provides grants for small-scale farmers to build infrastructures in rural communities to support local economies and job creation. We also intervene and fund projects in sectors such as agriculture, energy, women and youth empowerment among others,” Echono expressed.
