Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Adamawa North Senatorial District unopposed.
Fintiri secured the APC ticket after the incumbent senator, Amos Yohanna, announced that he would not seek re-election for a second term.
In a similar turn of events, Fintiri’s former Commissioner of Health, Chief Felix Tangwami, also won the APC’s senatorial primary for the Adamawa South Senatorial District.
Tangwami defeated former senator Grace Bent and retired Federal Permanent Secretary, Ismaila Numan, to clinch the party’s ticket.

Meanwhile, the APC suspended the Adamawa Central Senatorial primary election due to the late arrival of electoral materials in parts of the zone.
Speaking on the development, the APC spokesman in the state, Victor Dogo, said the party decided to postpone the exercise to ensure fairness across all affected local government areas.
According to him, conducting the election in some areas while others were unable to participate would have undermined the credibility of the process.
He added that a new date for the Adamawa Central Senatorial primary would be announced soon.
Reacting to the suspension, one of the aspirants in the zone, Alhaji Aliyu Abbati, described the decision as being in the best interest of the party as it also gives aspirants another opportunity to engage with delegates.
