Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has restated his administration’s firm resolve to combat insecurity across the state, unveiling a comprehensive set of measures during the State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday.
Speaking at the Government House, during the state executive council meeting on Wednesday, Governor Aliyu revealed that billions of naira have been committed to bolstering the capacity of security agencies in the state.

“We have provided significant support to security agencies and introduced new initiatives to curb the activities of bandits,” he said.
Among the interventions highlighted were “the distribution of 140 patrol vehicles, enhanced allowances for security personnel in high-risk areas, and the establishment of the Sokoto State Community Guard Corps”
The corps, he noted, has been equipped with 40 Hilux vans and 700 motorcycles to boost its mobility and operational effectiveness.
Aliyu also outlined further steps, including the upgrade of the Department of State Services (DSS) tracker system to 5G technology, provision of motorcycles for DSS operatives, establishment of Community Guard Corps headquarters at both local and state levels, and the construction of a military base in Illela Local Government Area.
He added that efforts are underway to ensure the full operationalisation of an Air Force base in Sokoto.
The governor called on council members to redouble their efforts in supporting government initiatives, emphasising that his administration remains committed to delivering meaningful projects that will promote security and development.
Aliyu also expressed appreciation to the people of Sokoto for their unwavering support and persistent prayers, urging continued cooperation in the fight against insecurity.
