Goods worth millions of naira gutted by fire

An early morning fire which started at about 4am on Saturday in Lagos destroyed goods worth over 50 million naira.
LASEMA officials on ground at the scene of the fire incident confirmed to Tribune online that the fire incident started by 3am but they recieved emergency alert at about 4am.
The fire affected Association of progressive Traders Article block 1  Lagos Trade complex.
The fire incident happened as a result of emmission of heat from the dustbin which tranfered to a fully loaded truck with goods worth mllions of naira parked by the fence of the dustbin. the heat ignited the truck which had combustible items like perfume.
The fire spread from the dustbin to the truck to the goods waiting to ne loaded into trucks and since the goods were close to the shops it was also affected with seven out of the ten shops downstairs were completely burnt.
The shops upstairs were not affected.
One of the traders whose shop was affected Darlington told Tribune online that he lost goods worth five million naira and his 500000 naira cash was stolen, he sells local and imported perfumes. Another trader Kenneth Okereome was lucky that his shop was among the three shops that was not affected. he sells hair products.
The fire took close to twenty hours before it was put off, this as a result of the combustible and flamable materials that were burnt.
Materials like purfume, hair products, Car air-condition, gas cylinders, vehicle parts and other flamable items.
Some of the traders that spoke with Tribune online said that their  Market union should be blame for the fire incident saying that they contribute money for LAWMA to come and collect the waste products but our Executives will not call LAWMA but burn the waste inside the dustin which is very close to where Traders load goods to Onitsha snd other places.
With this incident now we will put a stop to burning of the waste they advise themselves.
The affected truck was fully loaded with combustible materials ready to travel to Onitsha before the incident happened.
