As General Theophilus Danjuma (rtd) celebrates 85th birthday, gubernatorial candidate of the opposition Labour Party (LP) in Gombe, Keftin Amugahe has been described as a leader and mentor per excellence who would have made a positive impact as Nigeria’s President should he agree to contest.
Amugahe made the assertion in a statement he issued to Journalists in Gombe on Saturday.
He opined that had the Elder Statesman, accepted to be President of Nigeria before now, the country would not have drifted to the present situation.
Keftin Amuga felicitated with Theophilus Danjuma on his 85th birthday, describing the Octogenarian as a “leader and mentor.”
The gubernatorial candidate who doubles as Gombe state Chairman of the State Middle Belt Forum reflected on the journey that began with the formation of the Political Association of the People’s Solidarity Party in 1989.
According to him, which, although unregistered, garnered acclaim for its massive electoral acceptance, Nationwide at the inception of the Second Republic Democratic dispensation, acknowledging the profound inspiration he derives from Theophilus Danjuma’s qualities.
Keftin Amuga said, “Since you piloted us in the formation of the then Political Association of the People’s Solidarity Party- PSP, which should have won the General Election at the inception of the Second Republic, had it been registered, I became inspired by your love for the Nigerian Nation irrespective of premodial cleavages.”
The politician disclosed that the inherent wisdom and courage of Theophilus Danjuma, have been instrumental in guiding his political endeavours to what it is today.
He added; “My leader’s profound understanding and unwavering strength of character has served as a beacon of inspiration for me and countless others.”
He added that Theophilus Danjuma’s humility, discipline, and firmness left an indelible mark on his perception of leadership.
According to him, “I wholeheartedly believe that had Gen. T.Y Danjuma accepted the presidency of the Nigerian Nation, the country would have been spared from the current catastrophic state it finds itself in.”
“Nonetheless, I express unwavering divine confidence in the leader’s ability to continue leading with vigor, not only in the entire Middle Belt Region but also Nationally,” he added.
He disclosed that Theophilus Danjuma’s love for the Nigerian Nation transcends primordial cleavages, “Stands as a testament to our commitment to national unity.”
Keftin Amuga added, “His resolute stand on the unity of the Nigerian Nation is unwavering and non-negotiable. Gen. T.Y Danjuma’s steadfast dedication to combating the oppression of the less privileged and his unwavering readiness to uplift the downtrodden. These qualities exemplify his unwavering commitment to social justice and equality.”
