Some Parents and Guardians of dropout school children in Birnin Ruwa community of Gusau local government area in Zamfara state have attributed poverty responsible of girls’ child education dropout in the state.
In their separate remarks, some Parents and Guardians in Birnin Ruwa of Gusau metropolis, during a community dialogue meeting with Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE ) project Consultant firm, Media publicity Consult (MPC), lamented that the situation has forced their children out of school.
“We are the parents and guardians of our children and we attributed drop out of our children from school to poverty, the hash situation could not allow us to take responsibility of our children to school nowadays”. They lamented
Also, some drop out school children said their parents were not able to provide them with school uniform, books, provide transport and other school demands in the state.
Speaking at the community dialogue meeting Professor Abubakar Aliyu liman represented by Executive Chairman / CEO Media and Publicity Consult Malam Nasiru Usman Biyabiki said the meeting was designed to have a discussion with parents and guardians on ways to bring out-of-school children back to school and improve girls enrollment drive in the state.
Biyabiki further explained that AGILE in collaboration with MPC has already trained Facilitators at local government levels for data gathering on non-enrollment and drop out of school children in the state.
” I call on you parents and guidance of children to consider the education of your children as the top priority”. He appealed
According to him after the meeting, MPC would formally forward their views before Zamfara state AGILE for next action.
The meeting was held at Sarkin Kudu Government Girl Day Secondary School Gusau, attended by hundreds of Birnin Ruwa Communities and MPC Officials in the state.
