Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has vowed to keep supporting and motivating the girl child.
EKEDC, in commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child, a day specially set aside to celebrate every girl worldwide said its mechanism and framework are designed to also help raise the inclusion of the girl child.
In a release signed by the Head of Media and Communications of the company, Sulaiman Aledeh, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Eko DISCO, Engr. Adeoye Fadeyibi revealed the company’s efforts towards empowering the girl child. Fadeyibi also expressed the company’s belief in the ability, quality and purpose shown by females.
“Our support for the girl child is relentless. We keep encouraging the girl child by providing employment opportunities as we have women across all our staff cadre.

”The testimony of our belief in the good of the girl child can also be seen through some of our Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSRs) designed to support them.
”Some of these are; Our donation of computers and IT equipment to WAYREF, which is a women-based school and our school feeding programme for students of the Anglican Girls’ Primary School, Lagos.
”Also, our Graduate Trainee Programme was designed to accommodate females who have shown competence, drive and passion for the job.
”We have shown our sensitivity to the needs of the girl child, with regards to opportunities we provide and our resolve to ensure an enabling environment for their growth. We won’t relent in our efforts to raise the standards of the girl child as we are aware of the importance of their development and growth to the betterment of our society,” Fadeyibi said.
The International Day of the Girl Child was held on Friday, 11th of October.
