Following the recent military coup in Gabon, the leaders of the coup have announced the appointment of General Brice Oligui Nguema as the transitional president of the country.
General Nguema, who is the chief of the Republican Guard, has been chosen to lead the transitional government after the military seized control in the aftermath of the disputed elections.
“General Oligui Nguema Brice was unanimously appointed chairman of the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions, chairman of the transition,” declared an officer in the presence of dozens of senior officers, according to the press release read out on Gabon 24.
