The immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Lateef Sanni, has emerged chairperson of the Steering Committee of African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD).
Prof. Sanni who has over 25 years of global experience in research and development was unanimously nominated and elected at AWARD’s 16th annual meeting held recently in Nairobi.
Prof. Sanni takes over from the Senior Programmes Officer of the African Regional Office of Canada International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Dr Jemimah Njuki, who stepped down after serving as chairperson of the committee for three years.

Prof. Sanni, a Professor of Food Science who joined the committee in 2016 noted that he was honoured to serve as the committee chair. He promised to take AWARD to the next level to complement the strategy review and refreshing of the committee’s five-year strategy.
