Fuel subsidy removal: Osun CSO protest lack of palliatives

Angry Osun Civil Societies Coalition (OCSC) on Monday staged a peaceful protest around Osogbo, the  Osun state capital, with a demand that the present administration should address the issue of economic hardship being faced by Nigerians as a result of increments in pump prices.

The Civil Society who first converged at the popular Orita- Olaiya junction in Osogbo, to register their grievances on the hike in the price of the petroleum product, is expressed disappointment that the Federal Government had not been able to provide adequate palliatives for its citizens since its action has crippled the economy of the country.

However, the inhabitants of the state who are not also pleased with the present situation in the country, also joined the group to criticize the government for its I don’t care attitude towards the plights of its citizens.

Speaking at the protesting ground, the chairman of the coalition, Comrade Waheed Lawal, described the federal government’s attitude as inhuman, callous and wicked and called on the concerned authorities to speedily come to the aid of the suffering masses.

He, however, said “the protest was centred on rallying against economic hardship, commercialisation of education, non-provision of palliatives, hike in electricity tariff, hike in fuel price and insecurity. The poor are not breathing among others.
