Flood claims four lives in Bauchi

Flood from a downpour on Friday night led to a fatal motor accident which claimed the lives of four persons in Toro Local Government Area on the ever-busy Bauchi – Jos road in Bauchi State.

In the accident which occurred in the evening when the flood during the downpour had many other passengers injured.

The flood casualties are currently receiving treatment at the Toro General Hospital where they were rushed to.

Reports had it that the accident involved two Opel Vectra commercial cars coming from opposite directions which had a head-on collision due to poor visibility caused by the heavy rains leading to the death of the deceased persons on the spot.

It was gathered that the four casualties were businessmen selling goods at Bauchi Central Market in Bauchi metropolis and were returning from Jos where they went on a business trip.

Aside the accident, there were unconfirmed reports that many other persons also lost their lives while many properties were destroyed, aftermath the heavy rainfall that lasted over three hours.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from concerned authorities while efforts to get officials of National Emergency Management Authorities and other agencies were unsuccessful as the line of the Permanent Secretary in charge did not go through.
