Flood: Borno govt constitutes relief committee

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno has constituted a 32- member committee on flood disaster relief distribution for victims of Maiduguri flood.

This is contained in a statement from the Secretary to Borno Government, Alhaji Bukar Tijjani.

The govenment said the committee has Alhaji Baba Gujubawu, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Monitoring/Evaluation as Chairman while Prof. Ibrahim Umara of University of Maiduguri as Co-Chairman.

Other members include representatives of North East Development Commission, Police, EFCC, ICPC, DSS, NSCDC, NEMA, SEMA, religious and traditional rulers as well as relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

Representatives of United Nations organisations in Borno and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) will also serve as members.

The November 10 flood caused by the collapse of Alau Dam spillway, resulted in many deaths and destruction of property yet to be quantified in Maiduguri town and environs.
