A noncompliance tax report posted on Monday at the Ebutte-Metta, Lagos office entrance of the China Civil Engineering Constriction Corporation (CCECC) by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), was later removed by midday of Wednesday.
The noncompliance tax report which was sighted on the gates of the $1.5bn standard gauge rail contractor as at Wednesday morning by Tribune Online was removed by midday of same day, following what CCECC officials described as a mix-up.
Speaking to the Tribune Online exclusively earlier on Wednesday before the removal of the FIRS report, the CCECC Project CoordinMrr, Mr. Leo Yin explained that the firm has been compliant in terms of tax remittances to the FIRS.
According to Mr. Leo Yin, “I just confirmed from my financial department that all taxes due have been paid to FIRS.
“The notification is because of complications of tax Audit report which usually requires considerable time. The notification will be removed by FIRS upon submission of our Audit report.”
By mid day of the same day, when Tribune Online passed in front of the CCECC office located inside the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) compound in Lagos, the FIRS notification had been removed.
