Finitiri, Bindow, others mourn Ahmed Joda

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has described as shocking, the death of elder statesman, Alhaji Ahmed Joda, who died in Yola on Friday.

In a statement signed by his Press Secretary, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou, the governor described the late elder statesman, technocrat and super Permanent Secretary in his public service career as an epitome of discipline and integrity.

The Governor stated that “I received the news of the death of our father, husband and grandfather with shock and sadness.”

He stressed that the death came at a time his wealth of experience and wisdom were most needed saying, “I am, however, consoled that he lived an exemplary life and left a legacy of selfless service to the community and country.”

He also noted that Ahmed Joda loved his people and the country, adding that the administrator, journalist and politician would be sorely missed having contributed immensely to the development of Nigeria, Adamawa and his immediate community.

Ahmadu Fintiri said that “On behalf of myself, my family, government and People of Adamawa, I convey my sincere condolences to the family on the passing of Alhaji Ahmed Joda. As you mourn, I join you in giving thanks to Almighty Allah for the exemplary and accomplished life your late father lived.”

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri noted that “the death of Ahmed Joda at this time, would surely rob the state of the great contributions and wisdom of the very humane elder statesman, who carried the interest of Adamawa State above all other considerations till he breathed his last.”

Similarly, former Governor of the state, Umaur Bindow, Nuhu Ribadu, others have paid glowing tributes to the late elder statesman who died on Friday at FMC Yola, described him as a point for unity in Adamawa, the country and the international community, adding that he will be greatly missed but they thanked God for the legacy he left behind.

The house of the late nonagenarian has become a beehive of activities as dignitaries continued to visit the family.
