Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa
The federal government has intensified efforts to strengthen education governance through digital transformation with the deployment of a real-time Monitoring Smart Boards Dashboard to the Federal Capital Territory Universal Basic Education Board (FCT UBEB).
The initiative, powered by the Nigerian Education Data Infrastructure (NEDI) and implemented by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education, is aimed at enhancing school supervision, improving accountability, and supporting data-driven decision-making across basic education institutions.
Speaking during the official handover ceremony in Abuja, the Director of Information and Communication Technology at the Federal Ministry of Education, Zainab Abukur, who represented the Minister of Education, Dr Olatunji Alausa, described the deployment as a significant milestone in advancing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the education sector.
According to her, the Monitoring Dashboard will provide education administrators with access to real-time data on school performance and operations through the NEDI platform, enabling more effective oversight and informed decision-making.
Abukur explained that the digital platform would reduce dependence on routine physical inspections while ensuring timely access to accurate and up-to-date information needed to improve education management.
“The dashboard will support faster, evidence-based decision-making and strengthen accountability across schools. It reflects the federal government’s commitment to building a more efficient, transparent, and responsive education system that prioritises learning outcomes,” she said.
Receiving the dashboard on behalf of FCT UBEB, the Acting Chairman of the Board, Florence Wenegeme, described the intervention as timely and strategic, noting that it aligns with ongoing reforms aimed at modernising education administration.
She said the platform would enhance internal management systems, strengthen oversight of schools across the Federal Capital Territory, and improve overall service delivery within the basic education sector.
Wenegeme also commended the federal government for sustaining reforms that leverage technology to improve governance and educational outcomes.
Following the handover, a technical team conducted a live demonstration of the dashboard, showcasing its monitoring capabilities and operational features designed to facilitate seamless supervision and effective data management.
The Federal Ministry of Education reiterated that the deployment of the Monitoring Smart Boards Dashboard underscores the government’s commitment to translating the Renewed Hope Agenda into tangible improvements within the education sector.
The ministry assured Nigerians that it would continue to deepen reforms, expand the use of digital innovations, and ensure that education interventions deliver measurable improvements in access, quality, accountability, and efficiency across the country’s school system.
