Following the directives from President Muhammadu Buhari to distribute 40,000 metric tons of assorted grains to Nigerians as a way to cushion the effects of high cost of food, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has commenced the distribution of the grains.
The ministry on Thursday flagoff the Emergency Distribution of Assorted Food Commodities to Displaced/ Vulnerable Nigerians and Women Group at Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp at Karmajiji, Airport Road, Abuja.
The distribution exercise is expected to continue in other states of the federation which will also serve as palliative for Easter, Ramadan and Sallah celebrations.
