FG advocates use of Nigerian languages to teach school children in science subjects
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Dr. Mohammed Bello, on Wednesday, advocated the use of Nigerian languages to teach school children Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) so as to aid proper understanding by them.
He stated this when he received the Odyssey Educational Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that promotes girl child education in his office in Abuja.
Dr. Bello, who pledged the continuous support of the ministry for young students and scientists, further said the ministry would work with the foundation to specially promote Girl child education.
“Educate a female child, empower a nation. The process of fighting corruption should start from the homes, as the home is the beginning of the socialization process.” He stated.
He used the opportunity to invite the foundation to the upcoming Science and Innovation EXPO to be hosted by the ministry and urged it to come up with innovative ideas that could be of benefit to the nation.
Earlier, the Country Director of the foundation, Stella Uzochukwu Dennis, said the foundation intends to collaborate and work closely with the ministry to promote Girl child education for the benefit of the country.
