FCT seeks hajj stakeholders’ support for NAHCON

Published by

THE Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has implored all stakeholders in the hajj industry to continue to give the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) maximum support in the commission’s bid to take hajj management to a greater height.

The board made the plea in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Lawal Aliyu, in respect of the appointment “of one of us”, Dr Abdullahi Rabi’u Kontagora, as the new secretary of NAHCON.

The statement added: “The Director of FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Malam Muhammad Nasiru Danmallam and the entire staff of the board are delighted over the messages that kept pouring and the high expectations on the new secretary.

“Indeed, words cannot express our happiness over this appointment and we are sure that the new secretary would continue to play his role in the development of hajj at the national level, leveraging on his experience which spans over two decades at the FCT MPWB.

“Therefore, it is our collective hope and prayer that Dr Abdullahi Rabi’u Kontagora’s antecedents would continue to be of immense benefit to the Nigerian hajj industry while he serves in his new capacity.

“It is germane to note that his success in the selection process didn’t come as a surprise to staff of the board, considering his track record in the transformation of hajj operations at the FCT MPWB. We are optimistic that with this appointment, the hajj family would continue to witness positive transformations in the Nigeria hajj industry.

“While thanking you all for the facilitations since the appointment was announced by NAHCON, we shall continue to pray for his successful tenure and solicit for rebranded, good working relationship between the commission and the entire hajj stakeholders in the country and the world at large.”

Dr Kontagora had served the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board in various capacities from 1995 until his appointment by NAHCON.
