FCT families unwind with Kart racing, paintballing

FAMILIES in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja trooped out in large numbers for Kart racing and Paintballing at the Central Park on Sunday.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the games, tagged ‘Play at the Park’, were part of the celebration of the Eid and Fathers Day.

Families were seen jostling to form opposing teams on the paintballing arena while children got the chance to practice driving skills on the Go-Karts.

Speaking with NAN, some of the fun-seekers stated that the fun was much needed to usher in the second half of the year and celebrate the achievements of the first half.

They also explained that ‘The Play at The Park’ was a good chance to create fun family memories as ‘family time’ has become harder to get into the fast-changing society.

Mr James Achuligo, a businessman who was paintballing with his two teenage children told NAN that he and his children would not forget the experience in a hurry.

“We have not had this much fun in a long time and I am grateful for this initiative.

“You can see that my boys and I are having so much fun which people hardly have time for,” he said.

Mrs Nancy Odogo, a doctor who came with her four children and husband was bursting with excitement as she watched her sons go-kart racing.

She explained that people needed to unwind sometimes and let go of stress especially during long holidays.

“I feel really light and excited. Look at my boys driving. I mean, these memories will stay for life, ” she said.

Some of the park visitors commended the organisation of the park, adding that it created a quality ambience for realisation.

Mr Archibong Ukpon, an engineer, said, “the environment is so relaxing that you just want to have as much fun as you can get at the moment.

“My family is having a good time and I am relaxed too although I cannot race or paintball,” he said.

NAN reports that the event, which was organised by Abuja’s biggest entertainment hub Play Network, also featured a mini-concert with performances from Manilo, LK Kuddy and Deejay TTB.

‘Play At The Park’, also supported by The Traffic Bar and Ice Entertainment, saw DJ Whales, DJ Kenny and DJ Burna on the music decks.
