Fayose reiterates commitment to welfare of vulnerable citizens

Published by
Ekiti State governor, Dr. Ayodele Fayose, has assured that his government would continue to do everything within its financial capability to promote the welfare of the vulnerable groups and individuals in Ekiti State and would not allow anyone to suffer any hardship unnecessarily.
The governor stated this at the launching of the 2017 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem Appeal Fund held at the Lady Jibowu Hall, Government House Ground, Ado-Ekiti.
The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Kolapo Olusola noted that these gallant soldiers who had offered their life to keep
Nigeria as one, should not only be celebrated yearly, but that government at all levels should make efforts to make life comfortable
for those still living among them and the families of the fallen heroes.
Governor Fayose, after announcing a donation of one million naira to launch the emblem, urged every member of the society to support the
families of these heroes by donating generously as a mark of appreciating their selfless sacrifices in building the Nigeria nation.
In his address, the Chairman of the Nigeria Legion, Ekiti State, Col. Kolawole Adu (Rtd.) lamented the total neglect of these veterans who
sacrificed their youthful energies to foster unity in the land by succeeding administrations, calling on government at all levels to support their families with some quotas of scholarship for their children, admission into Defense Academy and recruitment into the armed forces and Paramilitary outfits in the country.
He appreciated the State Government and its leader, Mr. Ayodele Fayose on his support for the war veterans, as well as for various on-going developmental projects which is turning the state to envy of the other states in Nigeria.
In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Establishment and Training Mr. Banji Ojo said that the annual celebration provides opportunity to reflect on and appreciate the sacrifices of the heroes made to ensure the safety and peaceful co-existence of all the tribes in the country.
The Armed forces Remembrance Day celebration is an annual event which coincided with January 15 date that marked the end of the Nigeria Civil War between 1967-1970.
This year’s celebration has its theme as “Appreciating the Resilience of the Nigerian Armed Forces” with its grand finale coming up on the
15th January 2017 at the Adekunle Fajuyi Memorial Park in Ado-Ekiti.
