Families of 9 deceased police officers in Imo received cheques

Families of nine deceased police officers in Imo State have received cheques worth N11,974,07.55 from the Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba.

The Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro, made the presentation on behalf of the Inspector General of Police at the Command headquarters in Owerri.

The IGP said the deceased police officers paid the supreme price while protecting the lives and property of Imolites.

The IGP said that the money is from the IGP Family Welfare Insurance, Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident Schemes put in place by the Police Management Team to ameliorate the sufferings of families of Police Officers who died while carrying out their statutory duties.

The initiative according to the IGP is aimed at supporting the immediate families of the fallen heroes and also boost the morale of serving police officers to put in their best in protecting the lives and properties of the citizens.

Receiving the cheques, the beneficiaries expressed their profound gratitude to the IGP for not abandoning them in their moments of grief and prayed that God should continue to protect police officers in the discharge of their duties.
