IN order to develop the poultry value chain in the country, FACCO West Africa Limited, in conjunction with Adewale Nigeria Limited and Wemton Agriculture Development and Advisory Services, recently organised a forum where poultry farmers were schooled on best ways to go about poultry best practices.
The practical poultry meeting with the topic ‘How to make poultry agriculture business a profitable business and benefit of FACCO feeds to poultry farmers,’ held at Nero Hotel, Lagos, had participants drawn from within and outside Lagos State.
Speaking to the Nigerian Tribune the motive behind the forum, Assistant Executive Director, FACCO West Africa Limited, Abimbola ‘Layo-Ogunyale, said it was put together to educate new and existing farmers on best poultry practices for them to make profit and also contribute immensely to the development of the important sector of the economy.
Mr Wale Ojo from Adewale Nigeria Limited and Dr Tony Wemton of Wemton Agricultural Development and Advisory Service, took participants in the rudiments of best poultry practices.
One of the participants, an investor and farmer, Ikus Masah, said: “The poultry farmers forum organised by FACCO West Africa is a laudable initiative. Despite the short notice for the event, the large turnout of participants and their enthusiastic interactions shows a lot of people are willing to seek and acquire knowledge and assistance to succeed in the industry.”
“The forum provides invaluable and selfless service that will help existing poultry farmers achieve their overall objective of sustainable profitability by exposing them to industry best practice and equipment supply and maintenance as well as stimulating new entrants into the poultry industry which is capable of creating more job opportunities that will lift many out of poverty while ensuring food security for the country.”
