Explore natural potentials to develop Ogun, cleric urges Abiodun

Published by

THE Bishop, Diocese of Yewa, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), The Right Reverend Micheal Oluwarohunbi, has urged the Ogun State Governor-elect, Prince Dapo Abiodun, to galvanise on the natural resources the State is endowed with for development.

Oluwarohunbi, in his sermon, at the pre-inauguration church service held on Sunday, at the All Saints Anglican Church, Ilaro, urged Abiodun not to solely rely on monthly allocation from the federal account in moving the state forward.

The cleric spoke on the theme: “Chosen To Serve”, specifically mentioned Tongeji Island in Ipokia Local Government, as one of the areas with substantial resources such as bitumen to turn the state around.

He admonished the governor-elect not to be a sectional governor who develops other areas at the expense of others, submitting that Yewa people had not been fairly treated in the scheme of things in the state.

“You must have a programme that will put an end to the suffering of our people in Yewa. Our people are suffering in silence. They need someone to bring them out of the suffering.

“Ogun State is naturally blessed, explore the resources to the benefit of the people. Explore Tongeji Island, something is there that can be used to turn around the state.

“Don’t depend much on money or allocation from the federal purse because in all ramifications Ogun is blessed,” he added.

Oluwarohunbi charged Abiodun on governance of humility and sacrifice asking him not to allow side attractions of the office to defocus him.

Abiodun reiterated the commitment of the incoming administration to embark on ‘mass-centric’ projects.

He told the gathering that industrial and rural roads would be adequately reconstructed to make life and business meaningful to the people.
